Here’s a story. This goes back to June of this year. I was working as a photographer covering Field Trip Music Festival. As I was running from the end of Jazz Cartier’s set to cover The National, I notice a couple messing around by the illuminated FIELD TRIP sign. A few beats later, the guy takes a knee and proposes. I get the shot, but have to run off as The National are already on stage. I posted the photo to Instagram asking for people to find and tag the couple. They did. It was awesome. I sent the couple the full series of photos I took and they used it as their engagement announcement.
Fast-forward to July of this year. I’m a staff photographer at WayHome Music Festival. We get word that another proposal might be going down halfway through Beirut’s set. That’s all we know. So we find the couple and we stake it out. I take some photos from 10 paces away, in a somewhat clandestine manner. All of a sudden, in the middle of the crowd, there’s a small clearing. The young man takes a knee and proposes. I pop up and get the shot.
A few weeks later, Courtney (the bride-to-be) finds me on Instagram and asks if I’d take their engagement photos. Of course. And here they are. Congrats again, Courtney + Chris.

What an awesome story!! I love hearing about the positive side of social media 🙂
Oh, the positives are out there. Everywhere!
As a social media marketer, I’m all about hearing stories like this from other creatives – the power of social media is strong. And the music lover in me is obsessed with the fact that they got married at a music festival!
Right! Me too, love everything about it.
What an awesome story! And the fall colors in this shoot are AMAZING! Great work!
Cheers! Thanks, Kari!
Way to come through in the clutch! That’s fantastic that you were able to get the first couple their photos too!
Cheers, Josh. Seriously, it was quite the moment.
Love this! So much love going on at festivals and most try to “live in the moment”. When a professional with a camera happens to catch it…magic shows up in images. Great pics!
I love that line, “Magic shows up in images.” So true. Thanks, Jennifer.
I am LOVING the colors in this shoot! Also love your unique perspective 🙂
Thanks, Rebecca! Wonderful time of year.
I love the FULL story, simplicity of the photos and the colors.
Appreciate that, Karen.
Lovin the processing on these. Did you create your own filter or …?
This is a Lightroom preset that I custom made. I love it.
